The Frenchman, son of an optician and a designer mother (his brother is the composer Leonard Lasry), has a technical and creative pedigree that helped jump-start his career as an entrepreneur. He opened his flagship in Paris’s Saint Germain (designed by interior architect Vincent Darré) that feels like an uber luxe light therapy room and followed in 2020 with a second store in NY’s Nolita, designed by Lasry himself and featuring graffiti on the facade by NY-based artist Faust. L’amour c’est comme un jour by the late French crooner Charles Aznavour plays in the background and the lyrics are written across the walls.

Lasry loves retro inspired flat front geometric shapes and bold pop art colour. The handmade frames are engineered in Italian silk screen printed cellulose acetate by specialist maker Mazzucchelli (founded 1849). The inner face of the frames is finished with a second layer of acetate to achieve a sculptural look while the logo is discreetly engraved on the internal temples. Lasry’s unique silhouette has led to a multitude of collaborations from Fendi to Reese Cooper and even Barbie. With video conferencing now a standard, these frames help you hold the focus. “Glasses are the first thing you see on someone’s face. They send a direct message to the world of who you are and how you define yourself,” he concludes.
